The word is that McHitch, a small business making IMO great off-road trailer couplings who were located in part of what used to be the Lithgow Small Arms Factory have ceased to be in business. McHitch have not offered any explanation as to why they have closed down. I will be buying a spare unit while they are still available.

I do not have a McHitch but from some research I did I found the main negative was that the hitch moved the trailer coupling pivot point further from the C/L of the rear axle which in some circumstances may increase instability in the combination of trailer and tow vehicle. __________________

Hitch failed at highway speed. contacted manufacturer. Was told hitch was old and had done a lot of work. It was 4 years old and had towed a van around australia on bitumen roads. It has a 5 year warranty. I was informed by manufacturer that he could not help me until he had personally inspected it at Lithgow NSW.
